Set Up for POP (Windows Mail)
Note: This page covers first time user instructions for
configuring their e-mail client to use POP (Post Office
Protocol) for Windows Mail. The instructions provided only cover
the latest version of that particular client we support.
Instructions for previous versions may be similar, but not
exact.
Open Windows Mail
- From the Tools menu, select Accounts -
Existing email accounts will be listed here
Click Add to add a new Email Account or Highlight Account
and select Remove to delete an Account.

Accounts Window (Add E-mail)
- Click Email Account and select Next
- Type your full name, nickname, or whatever you
prefer into the Display Name: field, then click
Next.

E-mail Accounts Wizard Step 03
- Type your e-mail address into the E-mail
Address: field, then click Next.

E-mail Accounts Wizard Step 04 (POP)
- Select POP3 from the drop down menu.
- Type your mail server into the Incoming mail
(POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server: field. Your mail server
is
- Type your mail server into the Outgoing mail (SMTP)
server: field. which is
mail.schat.net
Note: If if you are not connecting to the
internet through Schat.net you may need to obtain
the name of your ISP's SMTP server and enter
it into Outgoing mail (SMTP) server
- Type your Email Address into the Account Name:
and Password into the Password Field.
Make Sure Remember Password is Checked
- Click the Do not download my e-mail at this
time checkbox, then click Finish.
You still need to setup SMTP Authentication So your outgoing
email will work.
- Click Tools and Accounts - Select your mail
account, then click Properties.

- Click the Server Tab and check My server requires
authentication
Do not check Log on using Secure Password Authentication
You can also click on settings and enter in a different SMTP
username and password
- Click OK. A window similar to the
following will appear:

- Click Close.
