How to Check Outlook Express Email Settings and Windows Mail
  • Operating System(s): Windows XP, 2000, 98, 95
  • Application: Microsoft Outlook Express

Requirements
  • Outlook Express and a Schat.net email account already configured (we're just checking our settings here).
  • Windows Mail - Same as Outlook Express except Step Three
How to Check Outlook Express Email Settings for Schat.net
  1. Go to Start, then find Outlook Express in the programs list.

     

  2. Go to Tools, then click on Accounts.

     

  3. Select the Mail tab (Do not need to select mail tab for WindowsMail) select the Schat.net account, then click the Properties button to the right.

    • Remove any other accounts listed under Account to prevent conflicts.
    • Click here to open the interactive popup window showing all the settings for each tab.
  4. Make sure you have your E-mail address correct (no spaces) and there is a check mark on Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing.
  5. Left Click on the Servers Tab (Confirm settings below)
    • If you have a domain hosted with us
    • For POP3 enter mail.yourdomain.com
    • For SMTP enter the smtp setting of your ISP (if you get you internet from Schat.net enter mail.schat.net)
    • For Account name enter username%yourdomain.com or username@yourdomain.com if you have our AntiSpam and AntiVirus E-Mail Filters. 
  6. Make sure there is a Check mark on Connect to this account using:
    • Local Area Network (for this to work right check your auto dial settings 95/98/ME/2000  or XP)
  7. Select Ok
  8. Select Close
  9. Your Finished
