How to Configure Windows XP to Connect to Schat.net

This article describes how to check several Dial-up Setting.
  1. Set Auto Dial
  2. Change Dial-up username and password
  3. Remove Old Dial up Connections

Requirements
  • Username and password
  • Active Internet Account
How to Configure Windows XP to Connect to Schat.net
  1. XP Category View

    1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Network and Internet Connections.
    2. Click Setup or Change Your Internet Connection
    3. Skip to Step 4

    OR

  1. From the Start menu, choose Control Panel.

Note: If you are running Windows XP in classic mode, your will need to select the Start menu, select Settings, then choose Control Panel

  1. Click the Switch to Classic View icon.
  2. If already in Classic View Double Left Click on the Internet Options Icon


     
  3. Now choose the Connections Tab

    • Remove any accounts listed under Dial-up Settings that are not Schat.net
       

  4. Put a dot on Always Dial my Default Connection

    • (Sets AutoDial for Web Browser - Internet Explorer) also sets AutoDial for Email Program if auto dial in Outlook Express is set for Local Area Network.
        
        

  5. Under Dial-up setting Select Schat.net 

    • 95/98/ME only - if it does not say Schat.net (default) Select the Default Button to the Right.

    • Left Click Schat.net and Left click on the Settings button.

  6. Put a Check Mark on Automatically Detect Settings.

  7. Under Dial-up Settings enter in your Username@schat.net and password (lower case)

    • do not put anything under domain
        

  8. Select Ok (to close setting window)

  9. Select Ok (to close Internet Properties Window)

  10. Close Control Panel

  11. Finished
